Description

This is an early to mid-18th century house of three storeys and three windows, situated on The Square. The roof is hidden behind a restored brick parapet, topped by a moulded brick cornice. The brickwork is red, decorated with a pattern of blue headers. The second-floor windows and the first-floor central window are restored sash windows with glazing bars set in near-flush box frames. Late 19th-century canted oriel bays flank the first-floor side windows. The ground-floor windows have been recently replaced with shallow bays. A three-step approach leads to the doorway, which is positioned to the right of centre and features brick pilasters, a cornice, and a dentil-detailed pediment constructed from cut brickwork. The property forms a group with numbers 24 and 25 The Square, numbers 2 to 26 (even) Sheep Street, and numbers 2A, 2, and 4 The Spain.
