Description
The Front Lodge at Rotherfield Park, located on Gosport Road in East Tisted, is a lodge residence dating from around 1820 with later 19th-century alterations. It serves as the main entrance to the park and features a single-storeyed octagonal structure designed in a Gothic style, topped with a slate roof that is visible only above a later rearward extension. The walls are constructed of ashlar Bath stone, with a parapet that has a coping and drip-mould in a Gothic form, and a plinth. The windows have pointed openings with hood moulds and contain coupled traceried casements. The open porch is made of stone and features a Tudor chamfered arch, along with small side windows beneath square hood moulds. The door is adorned with Gothic panels. The lower rear block surrounds three sides of the octagon and is built with brick walls in Flemish bond, featuring Dutch-flat arches beneath hood moulds. This block also encloses a chimney stack with a square base and a group of four circular flues.
