Description
Ivy Cottage is a building that consists of two cottages now combined into one. It dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with some late 19th-century alterations. The structure primarily features brick walls, topped with a roof made of thatch and tiles. The original part includes a late-medieval timber-framed hall that has a chimney and an inserted first floor. The building has been extended with timber framing at the west end, and there is a large addition at the east end from the late 19th century, which also features timber framing. The older section has a thatched roof with a hipped west end that has low eaves, while the east side has 20th-century tiling. The building is two storeys high with irregular window arrangements and casement windows. A plain doorway has replaced the former lobby entrance and features a small thatched canopy supported by posts. Inside, there is a winding staircase located next to the stack, which is now completely enclosed.
