Description
Halnaker Park is one of the later houses designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, built in 1938. The main wing faces south and features hipped projections at each end, connected by a pergola. The building has two storeys and an attic, constructed of painted brick with a tiled roof. It has sash windows with glazing bars, with the central portion containing four windows and four hipped dormers. Each wing has two windows; the west wing's windows extend the full height of the building, while the first floor of the east wing is an open loggia. There is a pergola along the west end of the west projection. The north front of the main wing includes a pentice with two tall gables, providing two storeys above the ground floor. At the east end, there is a long service wing that projects north at a right angle. The east front of this wing has six windows and five hipped dormers, along with a pentice at the north end featuring two tiers of two hipped dormer windows. The house is illustrated in Volume I of the Commemorative volumes on Lutyens.
