Description
Lady Cross is a cross base located approximately 1000 metres south-west of the junction with Windleden Lane on the old salt road. Its date is uncertain, but it is mentioned in documents from 1509, 1547, and 1695. The cross base is made of millstone grit and has a square base that measures approximately 750mm across, with chamfered corners and a square socket. A triangular shaft has been inserted at a later date. This cross is situated on an old salt route from Cheshire and marks the boundary between the parishes of Dunford and Langsett.
