Description
This stable and cartshed, located approximately 10 yards northwest of Townend Cottage, dates from the mid-19th century and is possibly designed by George Gilbert Scott. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with hammer dressed ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a clay tile roof. It is a single-storey structure with four bays, featuring a symmetrical layout. There are fixed light windows on the left and right sides, stable-type doors to the left and right of the center, and two cart entries in the center, separated by a square-section brick pier. A four-pane fixed light window is located on the west gable. This building is part of the picturesque Alpine style estate village created by Scott.
