Description
The Old Workhouse is a late 17th-century house, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble gritstone with gritstone dressings and has a stone slate roof, featuring one stone gable end stack and one ridge stack. The south elevation has a doorway on the right with a stone surround. To the left of the doorway, visible former angle quoins indicate that this bay was a later addition. To the left of that are a 3-light, a 4-light, and a 2-light recessed chamfered mullion window. The first floor has three 3-light square sectioned mullion windows. The first floor was considerably rebuilt in the 20th century. The west elevation displays angle quoins.
