Description
The White House is a farmhouse dating from 1669, constructed from coursed rubble gritstone with ashlar dressings. It features a stone slate roof with two stone gable end stacks and one ridge stack. The building has a rectangular plan with a cross wing and a projecting two-storey porch at the junction of the cross wing and the main block.
The east elevation showcases a gabled cross wing on the left, which includes a 2-light window with a chamfered mullion and a larger similar window above. The porch has a stone-coped gable and moulded kneelers, with a doorway featuring a Tudor arched massive stone lintel and quoins. Above the porch is a round-arched window that mirrors one found at Herod Farm. The doorway within the porch has a moulded surround and a lintel dated 1669. To the right of the porch, there is a 3-light recessed chamfered mullion window, with a similar window above it. Further to the right, a single light window with a chamfered surround is accompanied by another 3-light recessed chamfered mullion window above.
On the north elevation, there is a 2-light recessed chamfered mullion window on the ground floor, with a smaller but similar window above. Inside, the farmhouse features a 17th-century chimneypiece with a Tudor arch and roll moulding on the stone lintel and jambs.
