Description

Mompesson's Well is a wellhead located on the west side of Edge Road in the parish of Eyam. It dates from the 17th century and is constructed of gritstone. The well features a stone trough that is covered to the west by a rectangular slab with humped ribs. It is surrounded by 20th-century iron railings. The well is listed due to its historical association with the Eyam plague of 1666.
