Description

Ivy Cottage is a 17th-century house located in the parish of Aldwark. It is constructed from rubble limestone with dolomitic limestone dressings, featuring quoins and plain gables. The building has a brick central ridge stack and a plain tiled roof. It stands two storeys high and consists of two bays, with stacked two-light recessed chamfer-mullioned windows. The ground floor openings are taller than those on the upper floor, and all windows have side-hung casements. The central doorway, which has a heavy lintel, is obscured by a 20th-century porch. There are lean-to extensions at the west end and on the eastern side of the north elevation.
