Description
Lidgate Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is built from rubble and coursed rubble limestone, with gritstone and dolomitic limestone dressings, and features quoins and both intermediate and end ridge stacks. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and stone slate. The building has a stepped range of three parts that rise from east to west, with the east end set back from the upper two parts. A double pile addition at the west end creates an 'L' plan.
The west end is two storeys with attics and consists of two bays. The first floor has 3-light recessed chamfer mullion windows, while the ground floor and attic feature 2-light flush mullioned windows, all fitted with leaded casements. There is a central doorway with a massive surround. At the rear, there is a double pile two-storey extension that includes 2-light flush mullioned windows. The middle range is also two storeys with two bays, featuring 2-light flush mullioned windows and one 17th-century chamfer mullioned 2-light window on the ground floor, along with a plain surround to the doorway. The east range is two storeys high and has stacked 2-light flush mullioned windows.
