Description

The Church of All Saints features churchyard walls with entrances and attached railings, dating from the 19th century. The walls are constructed of limestone rubble with gritstone copings, while the entrance piers are made of ashlar sandstone and the railings are made of iron. A retaining wall extends from the junction with Church Alley up to Chantry House.

At the north-east entrance to the churchyard, there are steps flanked by side walls and a central bollard. The paved approach from the west end of North Church Street includes iron railings on the east side, which are attached to a freestanding section of wall with a wooden gate located near Chantry House.

The north-east entrance features rounded square-section piers that are connected by ramped side walls leading to a flight of steps, topped with a tapered bollard that has a shaped head. The retaining wall along North Church Street includes a former lamp bollard positioned opposite The Limes. The iron railings near Chantry House are set on an ashlar plinth and are adorned with spiked bars and vase finials. The square piers supporting the wooden gate have a cross-braced openwork top.
