Description
Thatchers is a building that originally consisted of two cottages, now combined into one. It dates back to the 17th century and was refronted in the 18th century. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble with gritstone dressings and features a slate roof with a stone ridge. The gables are stone coped with plain kneelers, and there are large stone stacks at the gable ends and on the ridge.
The building has two storeys and three bays. The entrance features a quoined doorcase with a flat stone hood supported by brackets. To the south, there is a 2-light flush mullion window, while to the north, there are two similar windows and another doorcase at the extreme west, which also has a bracketed stone hood. Both doors are glazed and panelled. Above the doors, there are three 2-light flush mullion windows, all of which have 20th-century leaded lights.
In front of the building, there is an attached garden wall made of limestone rubble, topped with moulded gritstone copings, and featuring gritstone gate piers and an elaborate cast iron gate. At the rear, there is a 2-light ovolo moulded mullion and transom window. Inside, there is a bracketed stone fireplace.
