Description
The war memorial, built around 1920 by Boden of Matlock, is located on the north side of Upper Lane in the parish of Litton Cressbrook. It is constructed from rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and is set into the hillside, featuring rubblestone retaining walls. The road is capped by obelisks, while the sides and rear are topped with railings. Steps lead up from the road to the memorial. In the center of the enclosure stands a gritstone tapering pier on a pedestal base. The pier is inscribed with "1914 1919" within a wreath, along with the words "Sacred to the memory of the Men of Cressbrook who fell in the Great War." The names of those who died are inscribed on the base and sides of the memorial. This structure is listed for its group value only.
