Description
Calton Lees House is a house that may date from the 17th century and was altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and ashlar, topped with a stone slate roof featuring blue brick gable stacks. The house has a T-plan and stands two storeys tall. The symmetrical north elevation consists of five bays. The central doorway is framed by a moulded eaved surround and a hoodmould, featuring a panelled door with a rectangular overlight divided by a stone mullion. On either side of the doorway, there are two glazing bar sashes, which are connected by continuous sill and lintel bands. The first floor also has five glazing bar sashes with continuous sill and lintel bands. At the rear, there is a wing that contains a massive cruck truss, which is visible only in its lower parts and is possibly in situ.
