Description
Bridge House is a house dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring stone slate and Welsh slate roofs with coped gables and moulded kneelers. The building has two storeys and an irregular north elevation with four bays. There are first floor sill bands present.
The ground floor includes a projecting single storey gatekeeper's lodge that serves the adjoining bridge at the south entrance to Chatsworth Park. This section features a doorway with a plain ashlar surround and a shallow canted bay window with glazing bar sashes. The return wall to the right has a single glazing bar sash, while three additional glazing bar sashes in plain stone surrounds are positioned to the right. Above, there are four similar windows, with the second from the left situated under a gable. The right-hand bay is slightly taller.
The east elevation has twin gables with glazing bar sashes. This building is included for its group value only.
