Description
Slate House is a house dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed of rubble limestone with sandstone and brick dressings, topped with a plain tile roof featuring brick gable end stacks and one brick ridge stack. The house has two storeys.
On the east elevation, from right to left, there is a casement window with a stone lintel, followed by a 2-light chamfer mullion window with a 20th-century 2-light mullion window above it. To the left, there is a 20th-century window with a concrete lintel and a 2-light square section flush mullion window above. A 19th-century window with a stone lintel is also present. There is a single bay outshut featuring a casement window with a brick segmental arch and a dormer window above.
The west elevation, from right to left, includes a 2-light square section flush mullion window with a similar window above it. There is a casement window with a brick segmental arch and a similar window above. A doorway with a brick segmental arch is present, along with a window with a brick segmental arch above it. Another window has a flush stone surround, with a window featuring a brick segmental arch above it.
The north gable end has two small single light windows with chamfered stone surrounds; the left-hand window is dated 1619, and the right-hand window features the initials HB.
