Description
Wheatsheaf Cottage and Hallgates Cottage are two cottages dating from the mid-18th century. They are built from rubble limestone with sandstone dressings and feature plain tile roofs with three brick gable end stacks. The cottages are two storeys high.
On the south elevation, Hallgates Cottage is located on the right and consists of three bays. It has a central doorway with a stone lintel and a 19th-century plank door, with a 3-light chamfered mullion window on each side. Above the ground floor windows, there is a string band. The first floor includes a central blocked single light window with a chamfered stone surround, flanked by two 3-light chamfered mullion windows.
Wheatsheaf Cottage is to the left, lower in height, and consists of one bay. It features a doorway with a stone surround and a 2-light square section flush mullion window to the left, with a similar 2-light window above it.
