Description

Riversdale is a house dating from approximately the 1830s and 1840s. It is constructed of deeply-coursed, herringbone-dressed sandstone, with a stone slate roof. The house is in the Tudor Revival style. The exterior presents a two-storey, four-window facade. The door, located to the left of centre, has a late 19th-century panelled door with two blue-glass lights and original brass hardware. A foot-scraper recess is positioned to the left of the door. The door is set within an ashlar surround with a hoodmould. The eight-over-eight sash windows have projecting stone sills and ashlar surrounds with hoodmoulds. An eaves band runs along the top of the building. End stacks and a stack to the right of the third bay are each distinguished by twin diagonally-set flues, bands, and moulded cornices. The interior was not inspected. The building is continuous in construction with the Castle Hotel on Bridge Street.
