Description

Beech Cottage is a house and outbuilding that were combined into an enlarged dwelling in 1994. The building dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is constructed of mixed limestone and sandstone rubble, topped with stone slate roofs.

The house is two storeys high and features a three-window range. To the left, the outbuilding shares the same roof and is of similar length. There is also a single-storey wing attached to the front right of the house. The structure has large quoins and dressed stone surrounds with painted projecting stone sills. The entrance includes a four-panel door with a 2/2 sash window to the left and a squat 12/12 sash window on the right. On the first floor, there are three 8/8 sash windows. The end stacks are made of ashlar and feature bands and cornices. The single-storey wing is ashlar-faced, with a boarded door and a casement window located beneath the eaves of its monoclinal roof. The interior has not been inspected. The outbuilding to the left of the house has a blank front wall, with a French window opening added in 1994.
