Description
The gate piers and boundary walling to the west of Wormhill Hall date from the mid-18th century and are constructed of ashlar gritstone. The gate piers are square in plan and feature projecting moulded caps topped with ball finials. The wooden gates have radiating geometric open work in their upper sections. Low curved flanking walls with saddleback copings connect the main piers to tall boundary walls on either side, which support plain timber rail fencing with violin-shaped stone supports in between. To the north, the low wall terminates at a shorter version of the main piers, which is attached to a quoined doorway in the full-height wall. To the south, there is a lower pier integrated into the full-height wall and a second quoined doorway.
