Description
Gates, gateway, and entrance screen located 100 meters west of Swythamley Hall, dating from the late 18th century. Constructed from ashlar and wrought iron, the structure has a frontage of approximately 20 meters. It features four identical square piers, each about 2.5 meters high, adorned with a frieze and cornice that is crenellated and topped with vase cappings, which are gadrooned at the bowl and rim with darts, and finished with acorn finials. A low mid-19th century plinth and railings connect the piers. The center is highlighted by ornate crested and segmental-headed 18th-century gates.
