Description
Sniddles is a late 18th-century shepherd's hovel that was uninhabited at the time of inspection in 2003. It features a facade made of coursed stone with quoins and has a pitched slate roof. The building is a one-room, two-storey cottage.
The exterior has a facade of coursed stone with alternating long and short stones, featuring a central square opening on the ground floor and a slightly smaller square opening above. On the right gable, there is a doorway at the far right under a stone lintel. The rear elevation is blind, while the left gable has a square window opening under a stone lintel.
Inside, the hovel has splayed reveals to the window openings, exposed joist holes from a lost floor, and some plasterwork. This late 18th-century structure is well-crafted and makes an important contribution to the striking landscape of the Moorlands.
