Description
West Uppertown Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse with late 18th-century and 19th-century additions, restored in 1979. It is built of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. The roof is covered with 20th-century concrete tiles and features stone gable end stacks and stone coped gables with moulded kneelers.
The farmhouse has two storeys and three bays, with a recessed single bay addition to the west. There is a raised plain doorcase with a 20th-century wooden door to the east, flanked by two 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. To the west, there is a larger 20th-century 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window. On the upper floor, there are three 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. The west addition has a flush doorcase inserted into a window opening, with a raised 2-light square section mullion window above. All the windows feature 20th-century leaded lights. The rear of the farmhouse has a considerable 20th-century extension.
