Description

Mile post from the mid to late 19th century. It has a cast iron triangular front with a rounded top, mounted on a stone post. The inscription reads: "GREENFIELD & SHEPLEY LANE HEAD ROAD UPPERTHONG GREEN HOLMFIRTH FIELD 3 MILES 7½ MILES BARNSLEY OLDHAM 17 MILES 11¾ MILES."
