Description

The icehouse, located 500 metres north-northwest of Cowclose Farmhouse, is likely from the early 19th century and was built for the Thornhill family of Stanton Hall. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a large grassed-over mound. The southern facade includes a semi-circular headed door. Inside, there is a short barrel vaulted tunnel that leads to a domed chamber, which is currently blocked off.
