Description
No. 3 The Square is a house and corner shop built in the early 19th century. It features ashlar stone with raised surrounds and a blue machine tile roof. The building has a verge parapet on the left side, a moulded eaves band, and a corniced stone stack at the left end, along with two ridge stacks. The structure is divided into two parts with a canted corner for the shop.
The front is three stories high with three windows. The house section on the left has two windows, which are glazing bar sashes of diminishing height on each floor. There is a Tuscan doorcase on the right side and in the center of the front, featuring a six-panelled door with glazed top panels. The shop is located at the right end and is two stories tall with one window that aligns with the house's ridge. It has a large casement window on the first floor above the shop window, which is taller than the adjacent doorcase and has a corbelled hood with a timber surround. The right-hand end has a canted angle with the shop entrance and an additional shop window on the gable end.
