Description
The Grapes is a mid-19th century house, now an inn, with a core of earlier fabric that has been remodelled. It is constructed of coursed and dressed stone, with painted stone cill strings and a parapet/blocking course. The roof is covered in blue machine tiles, and there is a brick end stack on the right. The front of the building has three storeys and three windows, set on a plinth. It features glazing bar sashes with large, corbelled, planted-on 19th-century casement windows to the ground floor. Stone steps lead up to a central entrance, which has a pilastered surround, a round arch head, a corbelled hood, a fanlight, and a glazed door. A narrow, three-storey-high stair window is located at the rear with three transoms.
