Description

This is a Wesleyan chapel, dated 1853. It is built of coursed and dressed stone rubble with raised, chamfered quoins, and has a blue machine tile roof. The rectangular plan includes a gabled two-storey, two-window front, topped with a steep pediment and moulded cornice. The ground floor has round-arched windows with corbelled cills, while the first floor has square windows. A central entrance features double doors with an architrave and cornice, and is fitted with elaborate strap hinges. A further three bays, each with windows, extend along the north side. Iron spear-head railings run along the front, facing Buxton Road. The interior is storeyed and has undergone 20th-century alterations.
