Description

The gate piers at the entrance from Buxton to Ashbourne Road date from the early 19th century. They are made of ashlar and are square in plan, consisting of four piers. Two of the piers flank the carriageway, while the two lower outer piers are positioned with a pedestrian way between them. The piers are rusticated and feature entablatures along with concave pyramidal caps.
