Description

The Old College, built around 1830, was originally a pair of houses that later became a school and is now converted into flats. It is constructed from rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, featuring chamfered quoins and end side wall ashlar stacks. The building has a hipped roof covered with Welsh slates and stands three storeys tall with four bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes set in projecting stone surrounds, and there are plain band courses connecting the second floor window heads and sills. A 20th-century central porch with a flat roof and rendered finish has double doors added in the 20th century. The south end wall and rear elevation contain doorways with quoined surrounds and heavy lintels, all of which are now blocked. The conversion into flats took place in 1983.
