Description
Hobcroft Cottages are former agricultural workers' cottages dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed and squared rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a clay tile roof featuring coped verges on kneelers. It has a rough-faced ashlar integral end stack and a single range three-cell plan. The cottages are two storeys high and have three windows, with glazing bar casements. The ground floor windows consist of two lights with a central flat-faced mullion and straight dripstones, while the first-floor windows are narrower. There are doors to the left and right of the centre, each with flat dripstones, and a single casement window on the first floor of the left-hand gable end. The right-hand end of the building is attached to the rear extension of Smalley's Stores and Hobcroft Farmhouse, forming a group with these structures.
