Description
Darfield House is a two-storey house built in 1834, constructed from coursed squared limestone with gritstone dressings. It features a plain tile roof with stone coped gables and kneelers, along with stone gable end stacks that have projecting stringcourses at the top. The south elevation has a central doorway topped with a flat bracketed stone hood. The door is six-panelled, with the top two panels being glazed. To the right of the door is a 2-light recessed chamfer mullion window with a dripmould, and to the left is a similar 3-light window. On the first floor, there are two 2-light windows of the same style, and a date plaque beneath the eaves inscribed with the year 1834. The house has metal casements throughout. The front gardens are enclosed by a drystone wall with curved copings.
