Description

East Newtown Farmhouse is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone blocks and has a pantiled roof with slate edging. The house follows a baffle-entry plan and has three irregular bays, with a door located between the second and third bays. A gabled porch was added in 2008, replacing an earlier gabled porch from the 19th century or early 20th century. The ground floor features renewed 12-pane sash windows, while the first floor has three 4-pane Yorkshire sash windows. The steeply-pitched gabled roof has kneelers and flat coping, along with a corniced ridge stack and end stacks. A lower, two-storey, one-bay section is attached to the right, and was originally a hind’s cottage. Inside, features include several 2-panel and 6-panel doors, and internal shutters.
