Description
Tosson Tower Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was formerly an inn, built in the mid-18th century, with a porch added in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone, featuring a plinth and rusticated quoins, and has a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays, with a lower two-bay wing on the left side.
The large porch has a round-headed doorway with a label mould and a well-carved griffin above it. The porch has a gabled roof with kneelers and ball finials, and the returns of the porch feature five-light mullioned windows.
The farmhouse has sash windows that originally had intermediate glazing bars, which have been removed, set in raised stone surrounds. The roof is steeply pitched with a gabled design, flat coping, and kneelers, and there is a ridge stack and a stack at the left end.
At the rear, the building is two storeys plus basements due to the slope of the land. There is a gabled stair projection, and a former lean-to on the right side has been raised to full height in the mid-19th century.
