Description
South Lodge to Otterburn Hall is a lodge built in the late 19th century. It is constructed from snecked stone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof, designed in the Tudor style. The building has two storeys and three bays. The central bay projects and includes a doorway with a raised alternating-block surround beneath a hoodmould. Above this doorway is a two-light oriel window with a stone pent roof.
The steeply-pitched cross-gabled roof is adorned with curly bargeboards. The outer bays have two-light windows under hoodmoulds on the ground floor, while above them are two-light dormers that also feature elaborate decorative bargeboards. The gabled roof has overhanging eaves and curly bargeboards, along with a tall central corniced stack. This lodge is included for its group value with the gateway.
