Description
The barns, byres, and cart shed north of Borrowby Farmhouse are farm buildings likely dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed squared stone and covered with pantiles. The buildings form a range around a large farmyard, with a raised causeway on the west side. Most of the structures are single-storey, except for the byre at the north end, which has a hayloft above it, as does the cart shed at the north end of the east range. The buildings feature boarded doors, primarily in a Dutch style, and have boarded or slatted windows. The cart door is segment-arched with cut voussoirs. This complex is an unspoiled example of a planned farm range.
