Description

Seven Bridge is a bridge built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, which was widened and partly rebuilt in the later 19th century. It is constructed from vertically tooled stone, with the widened sections made of hammered stone, and features a parapet made of herringbone-tooled stone. The bridge has a single span and an elliptical arch made of voussoirs, which springs from pilaster buttresses. The downstream side of the arch has roll moulding, while the upstream side has chamfered moulding. There is a raised parapet band and a raked parapet with flat coping. The buttresses rise into the parapet to form piers topped with shallow hipped caps. Part of the bridge is located in the Conservation Area of Cropton.
