Description

Numbers 20-22 Rosedale Abbey form a terrace of three houses dating from the mid-19th century. They are built of herring-bone patterned sandstone with sandstone ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof and brick stacks with stone caps. The houses have a central entrance, with a ten-window front arranged in a 1:2:2:2:2:1 pattern. Pointed doorways with 2-centred arches lead to the centre and left and right of centre. The end windows are 4-pane sashes, while the remaining ground-floor windows, paired between the doors, are squat 6-pane sashes. The first floor features large gables to the left and right of centre, each containing two pairs of 6-pane pointed lights with blind cruciform slits in the gable apex. The end windows on the first floor are 4-pane sashes set beneath small gables. All windows have stone sills, and all openings are topped with hoodmoulds. Gable copings are present on all gables. The ridge stacks are located at the ends and at the left and right of centre of the building.
