Description
The Blacksmith's Shop is an early 19th-century smithy located on the east side of Rosedale Abbey. It features hammer-dressed sandstone construction with a pantile roof and a brick stack. The building is a single-storey, 8-bay range. There are renewed board doors at the centre left and centre, with the centre left door flanked by three-light horizontal-sliding sashes that have tall louvred glazing. To the left of the centre door, there is a two-light fixed window with similar glazing. Original cart arches on the right have been blocked by a double board door with left hinges and a three-light fixed window, with a similar two-light window at the far right. All windows have stone sills, and the eaves guttering is supported by wrought-iron brackets. The gable to the left and the left-of-centre stack are coped. A mounting block is located at the right-of-centre door. The building is included for its group value.
