Description

Bow Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, situated on Chapel Street in Robin Hood's Bay. It is constructed of coursed sandstone ashlar with lightly tooled detail, and has a pantiled roof with a rendered stack. The house is two storeys and attic, originally with two bays. A central 20th-century panelled door is set beneath a low overlight. Above the door is a painted date, "1625." Flanking the front door are bow windows, the right one from the early 20th century and the left one later in the 20th century; all ground floor openings are united by a continuous flat hood supported by prominent brackets. The first floor has two replaced sash windows. The eaves are coved, with a kneeler on the left side. A left-end coping and chimney are also present. Two dormers contain late 20th-century casement windows. The interior is not accessible.
