Description

The churchyard cross, located 10 metres south of the tower of St Hilda's Church in Danby Dale, is likely of medieval origin. It is made of hard gritstone and features a square base with an inset chamfered shaft that has a rectangular section, cut off at a height of approximately 1.2 metres. At the top of the shaft is a wheel head, which may have come from a different cross, and its lower rim has been cut out to allow it to rest on the shaft.
