GOATHLAND NORTH YORK MOORS RAILWAY Goods Shed at Goathland Station

GV II

Goods shed. c.1865. For the North-Eastern Railway Company. Rockfaced sand-stone with slate roof. 2-storey, 3-bay front, built against station platform embankment. Full-height double board doors beneath segmental arch of voussoirs, originally with pent canopy; flanked by 16-pane fixed lights with stone sills and bordered rusticated lintels on first floor. Overhanging eaves and right end cornice-banded stack at base of pitched roof. Platform side: 1-storey, 3-bay front. Double board doors inserted in original window opening at left end. To right, two 16-pane fixed windows with stone sills and bordered rusticated lintels. Left and right returns: full-height round-arched openings in each return wall, the one at northern end blocked.
