Description
The North York Moors Railway Footbridge at Goathland Station is a footbridge built around 1900 and restored in 1986. It was constructed for the North-Eastern Railway Company. The bridge features a painted cast iron frame with timber steps and decking. It has a flat central section that is raked on each side, with a graceful elliptical arch supported by open, square-on-plan piers. The piers have round arches beneath pierced spandrels on all sides. Each end of the bridge has flights of steps that return to the platforms. The railings on both the steps and the bridge are designed with horizontal elements and diagonal-cross bracing.
