Description

The lodges, gate piers, gates, and screen walls at Thimbleby Hall are structures from the late 18th century and early 19th century, located on the east side of Osmotherley Road. They are made of ashlar stone with Welsh slate roofs and feature wrought-iron gates.

The north-west lodge is a single-storey, one-bay building with a pointed-arched sash window that has glazing bars and an intersecting design at the top, set in a raised surround. It has an eaves band and an embattled gable topped with a ball finial, which also contains a blind roundel. Adjacent to the north-west lodge is a quadrant screen wall with a rusticated end pier, also topped by a ball finial.

The south-east lodge is similar to the north-west lodge but includes a two-storey, two-bay addition on the right side, featuring four-pane sashes with stone sills and a hipped roof. It has a similar screen wall and end pier attached to it.

Between the two lodges, there are four rusticated gate piers that have plinths, impost bands, friezes with oval medallions, cornices, and ball finials. On either side of the gate piers are screens made of wrought-iron railings with a plain lock rail and dog bars, all topped with spear finials. In the center, there are double wrought-iron gates that match the design of the railings.
