Description
No. 8 South End is a house dating from the late 18th century, with some raising and alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from ashlar and rubblestone, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and features three bays. The two left-hand bays are flanked by quoins, while the right bay is partly made of rubblestone.
To the right of the left-hand bay, there is a six-panel door set within a surround that includes pilasters, a frieze, and a consoled hood. This door is flanked by full-height canted bays that contain four-pane and two-pane sash windows, all with stone sills. The first-floor windows have a frieze and cornice above them. To the right of the central bay, there is a small four-pane sash window, and to its left, there are two small four-pane side-sliding sashes, all featuring stone sills.
On the first floor, the right-hand bay has a four-pane sash window with a stone sill and lintel. The house also has a bracketed cornice, shaped kneelers, stone coping, and end stacks, including one ridge stack.
