Description

West View Cottage is a house with an adjoining barn, likely dating from the 17th century, although it may have earlier origins, and altered in the 20th century. It is built with limestone rubble and has a thatched roof to the front and a pantile roof to the rear, with brick stacks. The house follows a hearth-passage entry plan, with a small outshut to the left and a barn forming a cross wing to the rear. It is a single storey. The front features a 20th-century half-glazed door, two casement windows, a small fire window, and a further casement window, all with wooden lintels. A stack is located at the left end, and another on the ridge to the left of the passage. Inside, there is a surviving pair of crucks.
