Description
This is a range of former farm buildings, including Wild Rose Barn, located approximately five metres east of Wardles Farm House. The buildings date from around 1880 and were originally used as cartsheds, stables, and byres, but they have since been converted into residential properties.
The structure is built from rusticated sandstone and features a slate roof. It is 1½ stories high and consists of eight bays. At the right end, there are square-headed cart arches, each with painted timber lintels, one of which has double doors. The remaining openings include board stable doors to the left of four-pane windows with pivoting top lights. Two doorways have been blocked and replaced with windows. All openings are rebated, and there is a stepped eaves corbel table.
Towards the right end, there are two gabled dormers with boarded square openings. The gable ends are adorned with coped gables, moulded kneelers, and finished with ball and pedestal finials. Each gable end features three stepped lights, with the central lights being trefoil-headed and flanked by lancets. The peaks of the gables are finished with carved trefoils and topped with pointed ball finials.
