Description
The building consists of stables and byres located approximately 15 metres south-east of Howlet Hall farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a pantile roof. The structure is 1½-storeys high and comprises a 3-bay range that returns on the right as a 1½-storey, 4-bay range. The left gable end has doveholes, while the third bay, which is the gable end of the returned range, contains a rebated pitching window. The outer side of the return range is obscured by later buildings. Both ranges have board stable doors beneath herringbone-tooled lintels on the yard sides. These ranges form one side and part of another of the farmyard at Howlet Hall farm and are included for their group value.
