Description
Lawns Farmhouse (east) and the adjacent outbuildings date from the late 18th century. The farmhouse is built of coursed squared stone and features a green slate roof with stone copings, kneelers, and stacks. An extension has an artificial slate roof, while the outbuilding has a pantile roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with three windows, displaying a symmetrical design and a lower two-storey extension on the right with one wide bay. Originally designed as a hearth-passage type, it has been altered to a more modern style. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed panelled door with a blocked overlight, flanked by late 19th-century sash windows on the right, all set under wedge stone lintels with tall keystones. The farmhouse features corniced end chimneys. To the right, a long one-storey stable and byre range extends, which includes a short two-storey projecting end section. The stable doors and other openings are boarded, and the front has a coped gable end.
